Mindfulness retreat

Mindfulness is a balanced, kind, non-judging attention. With mindfulness we can see clearly, free ourselves from reactivity, and respond wisely. Research has shown that mindfulness exercises can improve how we focus, think, feel, and act in the moment, as well as support our longer-term well-being by promoting relaxation and inner peace.

By cultivating present-moment awareness and non-judgmental observation of thoughts and emotions, mindfulness helps us develop skills for stress reduction, emotional balance, and improved overall functioning. It fosters a deeper connection with oneself and others, promotes positive mental states, and supports a healthier and more fulfilling life.

 

Regular mindfulness practice can lead to transformative changes in how we perceive and engage with the world around us.

The Venue

Suryalila

Suryalila is a little piece of heaven on earth. Nestled in a large open valley at the foothills of the Sierra de Grazalema, about an hour from Seville, this majestic mountain range can be seen looming large on the horizon behind Suryalila. A striking part of the natural beauty of the property is the breathtaking vista extending in all directions: rolling hills, fields of sunflowers, and lakes. The sense of vastness and expansiveness is very uplifting.

The retreat sits on 45 acres of land and is still a working olive farm with over 350 olive trees. Suryalila is a beautiful old renovated olive farm consisting of eight houses that form the cortijo. In typical Spanish style, there are two inner courtyards, one of which blooms with orange and lemon trees.

It is home to Danyadara, a permaculture farm with serves the Suryalila kitchen with loads of organic vegetables and fruits.

Meet Your Hosts

I completed two different 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and the advanced 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training. I'm fully registered and certified by Yoga Alliance as RYT-500.  ​On top of that, I'm a retreat addict! Understanding the importance of looking after my mental health and general well-being, over the past years, I have been attending retreats at least twice a year. There is something very special about sharing an experience with like-minded strangers and finding back your inner strength and balance.
 

A key factor I have learned is that a smaller group makes for a better experience, so spots are limited! My mission in this retreat is to create the kind of retreats that I am myself looking for. A sanctuary where, for a few days, you will be cherished as I share the magic toolbox of yoga and mindfulness with you!

Almost two decades ago, I took my first yoga class tired and stiff from the corporate 9 to 5, I was hooked on the way I felt -more grounded, happier, stronger, and healthier.​ A journalism major in college and former oriental art PR & publicist, my inquisitive nature gave way to a strong desire for an alternative lifestyle and self-inquiry which turned into a lifelong passion. In past years, I am trained and certified in different disciplines like Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa, Meridian Yin Yoga, Mindfulness Meditation, Traditional Chinese Massage, and Chair/Senior Yoga.

Yoga, as it was originally intended, is therapy. It’s a pathway to bliss. I’ve seen this in action, as yoga has healed me again and again throughout my life. For 18 years, I’ve been exploring different aspects of asana-based yoga, but always coming back to the core of the practice: Calming the mind through connection to breath & movement. Having spent considerable time in India over the years, even completing my 200-hour Ashtanga & Vinyasa teacher training in southern India, it’s important to me to honor yoga’s roots by incorporating plenty of ancient yogic philosophy into my life & teachings. 

 

With additional training in trauma-informed teaching and mental health coaching, my classroom is a very safe space for people of all genders, ages, backgrounds, and ability levels. There is no greater joy for me than breaking down a complex yoga practice into something which is fun, lighthearted, and accessible to all. 

 

After all: Yoga isn’t about putting your leg behind your head or balancing upside-down. It’s about establishing that sublime mind-soul-body-breath connection. It’s about embarking on a deeply personal journey which takes you closer to yourself, and closer to bliss.

Terms & Conditions:
To confirm the booking we require a non-refundable 50% deposit of the total cost. This will be considered as a down payment on your reservation.  The remaining payment must be done by the 1st of September. 

If you join the retreat after August 1st, full payment will be required at the time of your booking. 

Cancelation Policy: All deposits and payments are non-refundable (unless you find a replacement, in which case the payment will be refunded less the first €500).

Unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance. It is your responsibility to read and understand our cancellation policies. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits for failure to attend or failure to complete the retreat, or for arriving late or leaving early. We reserve the right to cancel retreats with inadequate participant interest, in which case all money paid will be refunded. Notification of cancellation will occur at least 2 months prior to retreat start date. Sakshi cannot be held responsible for any personal expenses, such as airline tickets due to changes in itineraries or retreat cancellations.

Please also consider: all itineraries are subject to change due to weather, excursions, and delays.

If we receive a cancellation of your booking 1 month prior to the retreat date you will be refunded 50% of the total cost if you've already paid in full.

*At Suryalila there is a dedicated massage room with skilled massage therapists, and many gorgeous communal spaces like the pool, dining, and living areas to just relax and hang out in.

*The yoga retreat facilities also include WiFi, office supplies, and anything else you might need during your stay.

 *Suryalila caters to vegans, non-dairy, non-gluten, and nut-free.

*Transfers will be arranged by the transfer company partnering with Suryalila
